西北政法大学法律翻译中心成立于2022年4月,系外国语学院下设机构,服务语言以英语为主,兼顾法语、俄语、日语和韩语等语种,以法律翻译为特色,同时可提供知识产权、文学、经贸商务、社会学、政治学、历史学、汉语言学、医学等方向的翻译服务。中心成员以西北政法大学外国语学院从事翻译理论研究和实践的教师为主,还包括校内其他学院及校外实务部门的翻译专业人员。
The Legal Translation and Interpretation Center (LTIC), founded in April 2022 and affiliated to the School of Foreign Languages at Northwest University of Political Science and Law (Xi’an), is a professional language service institution that takes English as its main language, supplemented with other languages such as French, Russian, Japanese and Korean. It specializes in legal translation and interpretation, and may provide featured interpretation/ translation services in law, intellectual property rights, art and literature, economics, finance, trade and commerce, sociology, politics, history, Chinese linguistics and medicine for the public. LTIC is mainly supported by faculty members of the University who are engaging in translation/interpretation research and practice.
本中心致力于法律翻译理论与实践探索,定期开展有关法律翻译的讲座、工作坊、学术会议、培训、咨询、合作等业务活动,旨在有效整合内外部法律翻译资源,促进法律翻译研究和实践的发展,搭建高水平、有特色的翻译平台,积累人才培养经验,培养优秀的翻译人才,更好地满足国家和社会的各类涉外法律语言服务需求。
LTIC is committed to the exploration of legal translation/interpretation theory and practice through such activities as academic lectures, workshops, conferences, training, consultation, cooperation, and language services mainly related to legal translation/interpretation. It effectively integrates internal and external resources on legal translation/interpretation, and develops a high-level and featured translation/interpretation platform to promote the development of legal translation/interpretation research and practice.
近年来,本中心成员为陕西省和西安市人民政府、中山市司法局等政府部门,陕西省高院、西安市中院和检察院等公检法机构,陕西电视台、墨责科技有限公司和Wells公司等企事业单位以及个人提供语言服务,已承担多项有关法学教育、政党规章制度和法律语言比较等翻译相关的国家级、省部级、厅局级和校级项目,在商务印书馆、法律出版社、威科出版社和斯普林格出版社等国内外知名出版社出版A Chronicle of China’s Notary History (1902-1979), Landmark Labor Law Cases in China: An In-Depth Analysis, 《犯罪测量与刑事司法手册》和《欧洲劳动法》等法律类译著20余部,并参与CNKI、《法学》和《武大国际法评论》等期刊英文版论文的翻译工作。
In recent years, LTIC members have provided language services for government agencies such as People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, the People’s Government of Xi’an Municipality and Zhongshan Municipal Justice Bureau; judicial organs such as Shaanxi High People’s Court, Xi’an intermediate People’s Court, and Xi’an Municipal People’s Procuratorate; and enterprises and public institutions such as the Shaanxi Network Radio and Television (SNRTV), Moze Technology Communication Co., Ltd. and Wells, as well as individual clients. It has undertaken a host of projects at various levels (including the state level) concerning such topics as legal translation/interpretation, legal education, regulations of political parties, and comparative study of legal languages. So far, LTIC members have published more than 20 translated books such as A Chronicle of China’s Notary History (1902-1979)(2023), The Handbook of Measurement Issues in Criminology and Criminal Justice (2020) Landmark Labor Law Cases in China: An In-Depth Analysis (2019), and European Labour Law (three volumes, 2016-2018) with well-known Chinese and foreign publishers such as the Commercial Press, Law Press (China), Wolters Kluwer and Springer Nature. In addition, some of the LTIC members also have participated in the translation service of English journal papers in China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Legal Science and Wuhan University International Law Review.
本中心对内职能包括:提升中心成员的法律翻译理论与实践能力;定期针对特定主题对本科生和MTI研究生开展翻译实训;协助学院联系、安排学生实习工作;组织学生参加各类全国性、地区性、省市级和校级翻译大赛;定期不定期组织专家举办法律翻译讲座、培训,或国际性、全国性和地方性的翻译学术会议;承担和组织中心成员申请翻译类科研项目,产出相关研究成果。本中心对外职能包括:积极开拓校企合作培养的模式,开展与国内外从事翻译研究和实践的机构开展合作;承接各类法律翻译项目,满足国家和社会的各类法律翻译需求。
LTIC actively explores the mode of university-enterprise cooperation, carries out cooperation and exchange with Chinese and foreign institutions that engage in legal translation/interpretation research and practice, undertakes various research and practice projects on legal translation/interpretation, accumulates experience in talent training, and cultivate excellent translators/interpreters so as to better meet the demands of language services of the State and the society.
本中心立足西北,辐射全国,积极服务于“一带一路”倡议和“讲好中国涉外法治故事,提升我国法治体系和法治理论国际影响力和话语权”等需求,力争成为在法律翻译领域处于国内领先、具有一定社会影响的翻译教学与实践机构。
LTIC, based in Northwest China, spans its language service nationwide in the context of advancing China’s “Belt and Road” initiative and “international communications on the rule of law”, and strives to become a leading institution of legal translation/interpretation teaching and practice with some social impact across the country.
